Size Guide

Choosing sunglasses online is easier when you can compare the frame shape and measurements with a pair you already enjoy wearing. Lani Shades are designed and float-tested in Hawaii for days on the water and everyday adventures.

How to use this size guide

Compare the measurements shown below with sunglasses that already fit you well. Pay attention to the overall frame width, lens width and height, bridge width and temple length. Most Lani Shades styles are offered in one adult size, and stainless steel spring hinges provide a comfortable, flexible fit. Because every frame shape sits differently, the best choice is the silhouette that feels most like you.

Eddie

Eddie is our classic square frame with balanced proportions and a versatile fit. Its easygoing shape works across a wide range of face shapes and transitions naturally from time on the water to everyday wear.

Moana

Moana has a rounder lens profile and a softer, compact look. It is a strong choice for anyone who prefers a less angular silhouette or a frame that appears narrower on the face.

Waimea

Waimea offers a lifted, expressive silhouette inspired by the powerful lines of Waimea Bay. Choose it when you want a more sculpted shape with an elegant presence.

Kahala

Kahala is our distinctive cat-eye-inspired frame. Its confident shape adds character while remaining comfortable for everyday wear.

Makani

Makani is our low-profile wraparound style, designed for a closer fit and more peripheral sun coverage during sailing, boating and other active days outside.

Makani Kaʻena has slimmer arms and a slightly tighter medium fit. Makani Kaiwi uses wider arms for added buoyancy and tends toward a medium-to-large fit. Kaʻena is rated to float in salt water; choose Kaiwi when flotation is a top priority.

Earth friendly sunshades

Environmentally conscious, fashionable, and most importantly polarized. As someone who spends a lot of time in the sun, on land and at sea, sunglasses are a must. I've gone through many pairs from different brands, and honestly Lani Shades are the best because they're made from sustainable bamboo and they FLOAT. Less pollution for our oceans and planet.

I enjoy surfing and sailing. I have several of pairs of sunglasses in my drawer. My Lani Shades however become my go to pair. They’re light, comfortable to wear. The polarized lenses reduces glare from the sun on the horizon on reflection from the ocean. Eagerly awaiting my recently ordered second pair of Lani Shades.

Best shades ever!

I love the sunglasses! They’re so simple, but cute. The best part is they float and they’re wooden. I’ve already dropped them in the water at the dock and was able to easily retrieve them!

(Excerpt) What I like about the Lani Shades Lani Ohe Aina Black Sunglasses.

They really protect your eyes against the bright sunshine that is typical on a sailboat. I could still read a book while wearing the sunglasses but I could not see the screen on my phone. In fairness, whenever I am sailing my phone screen appears too dim to allow me to read anything... read the full published product review at: https://asa.com/news/2021/04/26/lani-shades-product-review/

Did not like plastic lenses, otherwise they’re nice.

Thank you for your review. Lani Shades uses TAC (TriAcetate Cellulose) lenses, which are a 9 layer optical film process, the primary component of which is cellulose (cotton). They are less "plastic" than some brands that use nylon. The least plastic would be glass but that would be less durable and difficult to install in wood frames.

Great glasses and service

Very nice glasses, unfortunately they didn't fit me perfectly. The service was amazing, I reached out about the fit and Greg was very kind. He provided me with a full refund.
