Care Instructions
Your Lani Shades bamboo and wood sunglasses are designed to be durable for everyday wear under normal use. However like anything, they are not indestructible. We recommend that you store your Lani Shades in the protective bamboo tube case and soft pouch that is included.
Frames
We recommend that you avoid sitting on, stepping on, throwing hard onto pavement, crushing in a backpack or other excessively rough handling of your Lani Shades. Your Lani Shades are not rated as safety goggles so please protect your face when wearing them as they might not survive any rough contact that your face might encounter.
Your Lani Shades bamboo and wood sunglasses frames are designed by watermen and women to be worn in and around the water and are coated with a light natural wax to protect the natural material from moisture. However, please don't let them soak in water for very long periods of time as they might eventually absorb water and it might warp the frames. If and when they do get wet, just let them dry out afterwards and they should be fine. If they get immersed in salt water, it's a good idea to rinse them with fresh water just to keep them clean.
Lenses
Lani Shades feature UV400 Polarized Lani TAC scratch and seawater resistant lenses. Although Lani Shades uses only the best 9 layer TAC (Tri-Acetate Cellulose) lenses, they are not indestructible either and without proper care can get scratched or in some rare cases delaminated. We recommend that you clean your lenses with the microfiber cleaning cloth that is included. Make sure that there is no debris, especially sand before wiping your lenses with the cloth. If your lenses become wet with salt water it is best to rinse with fresh water before wiping the lenses and avoid wiping the lenses when they are salty. Please also do not use any solvents or cleaners on the lenses. Use only water if you must clean the lenses.
A note about mirrored coating lenses: Ocean blue, emerald green and akala pink/gold mirrored coatings on some of our lenses is a durable coating that is applied, followed by an extra scratch and seawater resistant coating. Mirrored coatings are really cool but unfortunately can be more prone to scratching than classic gray (non-mirrored) lenses. While Lani Shades uses only the best process for this application, it is also not indestructible and extra care must be taken to avoid the failure of the coating. If you have mirrored coating lenses please be especially careful not to wipe or clean the lenses when they are salty. Rinse them with fresh water if they get salty and do not let them stay salty for excessively long periods of time in the very hot sun. If the mirrored lens coating on your Lani Shades fails after 6 months of wear and you make a warranty request, we'll consider the wear pattern on the lenses to determine if it's a manufacturer's defect and if not may offer you a discount on a replacement instead of a full refund or replacement.
