The Makani style is available in two versions: Makani Ka'ena with tapered arms for secure fit - and - Makani Kaiwi with Eddie style arms for more buoyancy. Both versions have the same low profile curved front.
The Makani Ka'ena is named after the northwestern most point on Oahu, where sea birds come to rest from the wind and sea. The Makani Ka'ena is version 1 of the Makani collection and is designed for secure fit.

The Makani Kaiwi is named after the channel between Oahu and Molokai, where the inspiration for Lani Shades was born. The Makani Kaiwi is version 2 of the Makani collection and is designed for increased buoyancy, incorporating the thicker arms of the Eddie style.

We love basking in the sun near the ocean on a sunny summer day, so it is amazing that my boyfriend and I can now wear shades with ease. I enjoy surfing and sailing. I have several of pairs of sunglasses in my drawer. My Lani Shades however become my go to pair. They’re light, comfortable to wear. The polarized lenses reduces glare from the sun on the horizon on reflection from the ocean. Eagerly awaiting my recently ordered second pair of Lani Shades.

Big fan of my recent purchase of the Lani Ohe Classic shades. They are super unique and eye catching, matching with a nice blazer and jeans. Lost my sun glasses while swimming at the beach a few days ago, while looking for a new pair, I found Lani Shades. I never had wooden glasses before, but these are great! They float, light weight and feel great! Thank you! Definitely recommend
I love how lightweight and comfortable they are. The hinges give just the right amount of pressure to stay on without causing discomfort. The lenses are really high quality too. They’re bamboo but they don’t even really look like it since they’re dyed really well.
Picked these up a few weeks ago and have gotten plenty compliments. The bamboo finish feels and looks great! Definitely would recommend.
I love the sunglasses! They’re so simple, but cute. The best part is they float and they’re wooden. I’ve already dropped them in the water at the dock and was able to easily retrieve them!
These glasses are much lighter weight than any I have used in the past. They also don't get super hot when leave them on the dash or in the sun. All my glasses in the past roast my face when I put them on if they have been left in the sun. The lenses are great, I really like the color and the polarization. The only thing better than the glasses was the service. Five stars all around.
