Lani means sky and Ohe means bamboo in the Hawaiian language. The Lani Ohe Collection and Eddie frame style is our signature style collection.
This timeless classic style for men and women was named after the big wave surfer Eddie Aikau who gave his life trying to save the crew of Hokule'a in 1978 off the coast of Molokai. It was sailing in these waters 40 years later that inspired the concept of floating polarized sunglasses that don't add to the growing problem of plastic pollution in the oceans that we love.

Ohe Bamboo Eddie Collection - Lani Shades
Lani means "sky" and Ohe means "bamboo" and in the Hawaiian language. Though not indigenous, bamboo grows throughout the Hawaiian islands including the bamboo forests of Manoa Falls trail on Oahu. Bamboo is also one of the fastest growing plants and is lightweight, strong and sustainably grown throughout the world. Because of its lightweight, bamboo is also the most buoyant and easily floats in water. We love bamboo!
The Lani Shades Ohe Eddie Collection is our signature style and collection. Featuring our most popular men and women's Eddie frame style, named after the big wave surfer Eddie Aikau who gave his life trying to save the crew of Hokule'a off the coast of Molokai in 1978. The Eddie frame style fits and looks great on everyone, on land and sea.

Lani Shades bamboo and wood sunglasses frames float and if they float away, that's less plastic on the beaches and in the oceans that we love. Each pair sold also plants a tree through our partnership with One Tree Planted and 2% of sales go to 4ocean to help clean up plastic pollution.
