Shipping policy
Shipping Update: January 5, 2026
Lani Shades fulfills each and every order with Aloha from Honolulu, Hawaii. Our standard free domestic and international shipping methods for retail orders is with USPS First Class or Ground Advantage Mail. For an additional fee, expedited shipping is available as an option at checkout.
You will receive a message when your order is sent out by Lani Shades, with a link for USPS tracking. The USPS states that First Class Mail packages are normally delivered within 2 to 6 business days once the package is received by USPS.
Refunds for lost or late shipments
Lani Shades fulfills orders within 2 days of receiving the order unless backordered or otherwise noted. Once our shipping partners (USPS for regular orders or UPS for customer selected expedited orders) receives the package, it is subject to their shipping policies and timeline, which is out of Lani Shades' control. Please consider this when placing a time sensitive order and allow for up to one month for delivery in the case of free USPS shipping. If you still haven't received your order after 21 days from the date of fulfillment, we will file a claim with the shipping service on your behalf. This initiates an investigation and if it is determined that the shipment was lost we will refund you the full amount. Please note that shipping services do not reimburse us for late shipments, only shipments that are determined to be lost. We will continue to track lost shipments and in some cases it may arrive over a month late, especially during the holidays. Please understand that this is out of our control and we can only issue a refund for lost shipments that are not ultimately delivered late.
* Please note regarding USPS tracking, often the package is only scanned when it is picked up and when it is delivered so it might show that your package is still in Hawaii when it might actually be closer to you.
Free shipping for international orders is sent via USPS First Class Mail International. This can often take up to a month to deliver so we highly recommend for international orders to upgrade to UPS or FedEx shipping services. For international orders, you will receive a follow up email when your order is received to confirm your shipping preferences and we will wait up to 5 business days for your response before sending USPS. If you would like to upgrade to UPS or FedEx shipping, we will send you an invoice and link for additional charges. Foreign Customs fees and clearance, if applicable are handled at the recipient's locale and additional fees may apply. Lani Shades has no way of knowing what your country's customs duties will be, if any. In most cases there are not any additional customs fees (as you would order anything else online) but please check with your local customs office.
Lani Shades has no way of contacting your local post office if your shipment has been held for any reason so please contact them first if USPS tracking shows it is being held. We will work as best we can through our local Hawaii USPS office to get your shipment delivered to you locally but ultimately we can only process a refund due to shipping issues once a claim has been settled with USPS.
Please ship your returns (at your expense, please) via USPS to the address below and we will send your replacement to you within 5 business days via USPS at our expense.

Lani Shades makes a point to reduce waste and single use plastic in the shipping process. Our manufacturing partners are also committed to reducing waste and avoiding single use plastics. Your Lani's are sent in their sturdy case carefully and securely wrapped in protective paper. Please reduce, reuse and recycle!
